Throughout my childhood, I always expected that I would go to college. There wasn't a discussion in my family, and I accepted that, but I never put much thought into what I wanted to do or what I wanted to be. During my four years of undergrad enrollment, I discovered I had a love for Psychology and how people think, along with the reasons for their actions. Despite this love, I didn't have any plans to be a Psychologist once I completed my B.A. in Psychology. Instead, I started working with the University system upon my graduation in 2009.
After spending three - four years in the Treasurer's Office, I learned that I loved working in the business environment and decided to pursue my Master's in Business Administration (MBA). This program was one of the toughest experiences of my life because I completed my Master's Degree while working 40-50 hours a week for the University. This afforded me the ability to pay for the program and truly experience the struggle of making oneself better while making ends meet.
Combining my experience in the University system and my degrees, I was recruited away to become the Director of International Programming with Northwest Arkansas Community College. This job has brought me much joy and fulfillment over the years, but I knew it wasn’t what I hoped to achieve with my career or my self-growth.
In late 2017, I started a side gig doing Freelance work for small mom/pop shops online. My wife encouraged me to pursue this because I had a knack for working with individuals, developing empathy for their situations, and helping them find solutions to their problems. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was starting my first adventure into UX/UI Design and Web Development. Over the next 5 years, I would work with many small shops in defining their users, exploring their competitors, and helping develop products or website(s) based on research that met their needs to help them become a success.
In 2019, I began working with Crazy House Clothier, which started as a small shop and has grown by over 300% since I arrived. This company had a unique idea for clothing and needed a unique solution to simplify the user experience. That is where I came in. Over the years, I built their products, website, mobile site, ordering system, automated systems, and (potentially) a mobile app. This company helped me realize that I want to do this full-time.
Thanks to this discovery, in 2022, I completed the Google UX Design Certification Program to hone my understanding and skills in UX/UI Design. I wanted to help myself become better at what I do, so I can marry my love for Psychology and my love for Business into one career that will define me.
