Original Product

This SaaS was designed to allow FinTech companies create complex logics in order to streamline and innovate on loan application decisions.  Before my involvement, the software was a thick client installation that had no browser capabilities and required consistent MSI releases to clients which burdened on-boarding of new and existing clients. There was a blend of user flows that were generated based on stand-alone ideas missing an overarching design.

The Ask & Scope

Leadership wanted this product to be innovated and modern with browser functionality and a simplified user flow in order to allow both developers and business users alike be able to work within the platform with ease.  There was no documentation from predecessors on how the functionality was developed in the Thick Client and a new path needed to be forged within one year from design to a deployable product.

The Approach

Over the next 9 months, research was conducted with current users of the thick client to identify insights and user flows.  Then mockups were designed on the new Browser IDE.  I began (without instruction) to include Marketing and tech writers to ensure a unified voice and vision be standardized for the product.  Over 50+ unique user flows were developed for the IDE along with multiple feasibility meetings with lead developers to ensure designs were capable and to garner buy-in from cross-functional team members.

The Follow-Up

Upon initial release, I advocated and was granted the ability to conduct user acceptance testing on iterative user flows.  The goal was to validate the new established user flows were better both in behavioral actions and attitudinal responses from the users.  Additional, refinement occurred over future iterative development based on the research of user feedback.

My Role - Lead UX Designer

Original Product

A Tier 1 Banking Loan Origination System that was designed exclusively for back office employees of clients, as seen above.  Enabled underwriters to review applications, make informed decisions, and avoid Fraud were necessary.  This software was customized per client and wasn't an off-the-shelf approach which lead to long on-boarding efforts and costly enhancement requests.

The Ask & Scope

Company leadership pivoted directions and wished to build a new off-the-shelf Loan Origination System that would be functional for banks, Fintech, and any credit approving agency.  The development of a B2C application portal was requested that would connect to the client's potential customers.  Goal was to transition to this new product within months.

The Approach

Over the next 3 months, research was conducted with current client users of the custom banking LOS to identify insights and user flows.  Personas, Journey Maps, and Needs Analysis were created to ideate on possible designs.  Then mockups were created using Figma on the back office and the connecting consumer facing pages.  I utilized Marketing's standards of approach to public facing styles to design the new look and feel.  Additional meetings were held with Architects and Lead Developers in order to hammer out new user flows feasibility and adapt the designs accordingly.

The Follow-Up

Due to success from prior UX efforts, I was requested to conduct user acceptance testing on the new designs in order to identify pain points, insights, and enhancements for the future. Those actions are currently happening as of 2026.  Some initial results were already obtained as shown below.

My Role - Lead UX Designer

Original Product

This was a new product generation without any predecessor to review.  The "Go to Market" research generated by Marketing and Products with my support identified a global need in the market place to download and generate synthetic user data to test loan thresholds.  In order to enhance clients portfolios by giving them the ability to adapt quickly and adjust lending practices without dealing with the xml code of the credit bureaus.

The Ask & Scope

Create a deployable product to sell to current clients with only two months of development time.  Upon the completion of the product, conduct research with current client users to to fix any user flow issues and hand off to Sales to market for new clients.

The Approach

Over the next 8 weeks, research was searched for on current credit bureau data functionality.  Additional interviews were held with potential end-users of the product to identify the need.  Suggested user flows were tested using an A/B style approach in order to identify the best path forward.  Designs were mockup up using the company branding style set forth by myself in conjunction with Marketing.  Upon hand-off, feasibility meetings were held to adjust design issues based on tech debt and test scripts were created in conjunction to business requirements and QA suggestions.

The Follow-Up

UX hand off was completed in 2-3 weeks.  Development was completed ahead of schedule with minimal defects despite thorough testing.  At the 7 week mark, Customer Experience was showing a live dev environment to current clients which received positive feedback and an immediate sales increase within 1 week.  Current on-boarding of product is underway and additional UX research to come.
